MOVING OR SELLING your property? Changing Tenants?

It is the OWNERS responsibility to notify our office as soon as possible if there are going to be changes of ownership or new tenants.

If you are selling your property, please email the office at jeffersonrwd9@gmail.com prior to the closing date to make sure you have the appropriate forms needed. We will also need a forwarding address for the last bills that may need to be sent out.

The Benefit Unit Transfer Form will need to be signed by the Seller(s) AND Buyer(s) in order to transfer the meter ownership.

The Water Application Form will need to be filled out and signed by the new owner.

The Property Owner Agreement Concerning Tenants Form will need to be signed by both the owner and the renter if you are renting your property.  Also, the account will remain in the property owners name and the tenant will be added onto the account for mailing purposes. The property owner and tenant will receive the monthly bill so that the property owner knows if the renter is behind as far as their water bill.

The seller is responsible for ALL ACCOUNT CHARGES until all forms are received and the account can be transferred. Remember our billing cycle is a month behind so if you sell your house on the 1st of the month and the meters are read on the 15th, then you are responsible for half of the bill that would be coming out that month that was for water usage from the 15th of the prior month to the 15th of the current month. It is up to the seller and the buyer to work out who is paying how much. The seller’s amount needs to be paid in full PRIOR to transferring the account to the new owner.
